Service Operator – Radioactive Waste Management

Are you looking for a hands-on position in a highly specialised production environment? As a Service Operator in Radioactive Waste Management, you will help ensure the safe and controlled handling of radioactive waste generated during production.
You will contribute to a unique product that supports cancer prevention and research. The work carried out at this location is highly specialised and unique within both the Netherlands and the wider international market.
Your roleYour main priority is to ensure that radioactive waste is processed and removed on time, allowing production to continue safely and without unnecessary interruptions.You will work closely with Production, Quality Assurance and the Radiological Protection Unit to further develop and improve the waste-handling process. Safety, accurate documentation and compliance with procedures are central to everything you do.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Separating radioactive waste streams according to approved procedures;
  • Handling solid, liquid and mixed radioactive waste;
  • Collecting, moving and preparing radioactive waste containers;
  • Ensuring containers are correctly closed, labelled and prepared for storage or shipment;
  • Registering radioactive waste in approved digital inventory systems;
  • Tracking container locations, storage periods, waste categories and disposal status;
  • Performing routine checks in storage areas, bunkers and waste repositories;
  • Supporting compliance with maximum permitted storage periods;
  • Carrying out material movements within the production environment;
  • Supporting cleaning, housekeeping and 5S activities;
  • Reporting abnormalities, faults and unsafe situations to the manager, relevant specialists and the Radiological Protection Unit;
  • Documenting all activities in accordance with GMP, Good Documentation Practices and HSE requirements;
  • Helping to define, document and optimise procedures for radioactive waste handling;
  • Supporting projects and improvement initiatives related to waste management.

Practical information
This is a 100% onsite position. Due to the nature of the work, a medical examination and a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) are required. Occasional travel to Indianapolis may be part of the role.
